“FAIR TRIAL”? The shortest joke!

On the 3d of March, the parody-trial of those charged as members of 17N revolutionary organization (which for the last 27 years has practically disputed the monopoly of the state in exercising armed violence, always having selected targets) has started in the special court that was constituted inside Koridallos prison as a ‘state of emergency court-martial’.

It is the parody of a trial since it’s carried out under special conditions. In the name of striking on “terrorism”, even what the bourgeois legal system provided until yesterday is not valid anymore. Between a number of judges chosen from before, the court was appointed by lot. The trial takes place inside a special court room - a cage - where access to common people is practically forbidden. Moreover, it is based on a special law, terror-law no. 2829, and uses as evidence such elements as “confessions” that were detached or fabricated under special conditions of “interrogation”. And those charged are fighters, now imprisoned in special conditions of isolation for months.

The assertion of a “fair trial” under these circumstances can only be seen as a joke of bad taste; this court-martial is the spearhead of the State of Emergency Regime that is imposed in the country with the pretext of June 29, to prepare the ground for 2004 olympic games, as well as a part of the international “war against terrorism” and establishment of a New World Order with USA on top.

But even if we left out these circumstances, any assertion of “fair trial” under the justice of the state would be ridiculous and disorientating. Because everything that each time is presented as legality is nothing else but the institutionalization of the state’s imposed force on society; it represents nothing but the portion of class violence enforced in a specific historic moment by the ruling class in order to maintain and promote its privileges.

From this point of view, in the prison of Koridallos, it’s not just a trial of those specific people who are accused of having opposed the force of the state with armed struggle and having replied with violence against the violence of the bosses for so many years. What is really under trial and what is really condemned by the state’s “justice” as “crime” and “terrorism” is the multiform social and class struggle of the oppressed, who, having to face state violence, can always put forward their revolutionary violence, whose part will always be the armed one.
